Privacy policy
This notice explains the information used by speakykid and See Guru to organise lessons and provide the family and child areas. The service is intended for families; a parent or legal guardian manages the child’s access.
speakykid is a project of See Guru. Payments are collected by See Guru.
1. Who is responsible
SEE GURU, INC. operates speakykid; the company address is below. Write to speakykid support about privacy, your child’s information or a data request: support@speakykid.com, WhatsApp at +1 442-222-2841 or @speakykid_bot on Telegram.
2. Information and purposes
For account access and booking we use the parent’s contact details, verification status and session identifiers. Child profiles may include a name, age, language and learning preferences. Lesson bookings, teacher assignments, vocabulary, answers, practice results and progress support learning and the schedule. Support messages help resolve requests. Purchase and transaction status enable paid access, receipts and billing support. The support chat also stores your messages, the page you were on, your language and time zone, the country of your phone number once you confirm it, and a technical identifier of your browser, and it links the conversation to your account when you sign in, so that we can answer you and continue the conversation later.
3. Voice, camera and optional AI
A live lesson transmits the microphone and camera content that you enable to the lesson participants through LiveKit, the video service of our lesson room. Browser permission allows the device to operate; it is not a substitute for parental permission. Optional conversations with Speaky send voice and, when enabled, selected camera frames to OpenAI to generate replies. So that Speaky can talk with the child about speakykid, it is also given the child’s first name, age, interface language and learning progress (place on the map, words, games, stars, the time of the next lesson and the teacher’s first name), never surnames, contact details, the parent’s data or payment details. Optional speech checking sends the submitted recording to OpenAI for recognition. AI can make mistakes and does not establish a diagnosis or a certified language level. You can switch the microphone or camera off and leave the activity.
Speaky also remembers earlier talks and lessons unless a parent switches memory off. We automatically delete talk text older than 30 days. We filter phone numbers, email addresses and links from the text, but personal details may remain. OpenAI uses the text to make a short summary and learning profile. We filter surnames, addresses, school names, health information and family matters from those notes. Summaries, the profile and lesson notes and transcripts stay until the parent clears memory or deletes the account. For older talks, Speaky uses summaries only. You can read the notes, switch memory off or delete it in the parent area.
4. Lesson recordings, lesson reports and heroes
Lessons with a teacher are recorded on video for the parent, and the lesson report is made from the recording. The child is not asked about recording; a parent who does not want their child’s lessons recorded can ask speakykid support to stop it, and then no lesson report is made. See Guru’s own recording service in Germany records the lesson room, and See Guru stores the recording in Frankfurt, Germany. It is deleted automatically 30 days after the lesson and is never shown to other families or published.
After the lesson, Google (Gemini) transcribes the recording, and from the transcript OpenAI writes a short report for the parent: what was practised, the new words and a question to talk about at home. With the transcript, OpenAI receives at most the child’s first name and age, the kind of lesson and the parent’s language, never a surname or contact details. The transcript is stored with the lesson so that the report and Speaky can use it, and OpenAI writes from it a short note on the lesson for Speaky; it is kept until the parent deletes it (Forget everything in Speaky’s memory) or the account is deleted, and it is not stored while Speaky’s memory is switched off. When writing a report fails, that attempt is also kept for up to 7 days so that it can be fixed. The report is kept in the parent area until the account is deleted, and it is also sent by email or Telegram when the parent has connected them. AI can make mistakes in a report; it does not replace the teacher’s own assessment.
The optional hero workshop sends the selected character parameters and, for additional poses, the chosen generated image to OpenAI. A child can also describe a hero in their own words. Text with a phone number, email address, link or username is refused on our server and sent nowhere; any other text goes to OpenAI, which checks it for safety and rewrites it as a short description using only words from a fixed list (kind of character, colours, clothes, things it carries, mood). Only that rewritten description goes to image generation. The typed text is not stored: we keep the rewritten description with the hero and, for a refused text, only the kind of reason. Generated hero assets and selection are stored for that child’s profile. Photo upload is not available in this version.
5. Who processes information
See Guru (SEE GURU, INC.) operates speakykid: its systems provide accounts, children’s profiles, scheduling, learning records, support and billing, and teachers receive the information needed for the assigned lesson. See Guru’s servers are with DigitalOcean in the Netherlands, Germany and the United States, and its lesson recording service with Hetzner in Germany. These suppliers process information for us, each only for its task:
LiveKit (United States, with servers around the world): the video connection of the lesson room. Google (United States): Gemini transcribes lesson recordings and the voice messages sent to our assistant, and reads the photos sent to it; Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager measure the public pages and the payment pages (section 11). OpenAI (United States): Speaky and the summaries of Speaky’s memory, speech checking, the hero workshop, the lesson report and the replies of our assistant on WhatsApp and Telegram. Twilio (United States): text messages with sign-in codes and lesson reminders. SendGrid, a Twilio company (United States): emails to parents. Telegram (United Arab Emirates): messages through @speakykid_bot, for a parent who connected it. Meta (United States): WhatsApp messages with our assistant, and the Conversions API (section 7). Stripe and PayPal (United States): payments, when that payment method is offered; the payment screen names the provider.
Information may therefore be processed outside your country, including in the United States. Ask speakykid support for the safeguards applicable to your account. The chat on this site works the same way: its messages are kept on See Guru’s systems, and the assistant’s replies in it are written by OpenAI.
6. Cookies and device storage
This site sets these cookies. Sign-in cookies (sk_at, sk_rt and sk_uid for the parent, sk_kid_at, sk_kid_rt and sk_kid_uid for the child on this device) keep the account signed in and protect access: first-party, 1 year, removed when you sign out. sk_money keeps the child and the course chosen on the payment pages: first-party, 1 hour. sk_consent keeps your answer in the cookie banner: first-party, 6 months. In the child area, three first-party cookies remember small steps of the child’s own screens: sk_kid_welcomed (1 year), sk_kid_reward_seen (30 days) and sk_kid_join_checked (48 hours). _ga and _ga_<id> are Google Analytics cookies, on the public pages and the payment pages only, for 13 months; in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland only after you accept (section 11). _fbp is the Meta pixel’s cookie, for 90 days under the same rules, once the pixel is in use. The support chat sets sk_wc, which keeps your conversation in this browser (first-party, httpOnly, 30 days), and sk_wc_has, which tells the page that a conversation exists (first-party, 30 days). It also keeps whether the chat is open and an unsent draft in this browser’s storage.
Browser storage remembers interface preferences and limited activity or booking state. Technical logs may include an IP address, device/browser information, request times and errors for security and troubleshooting. This notice does not authorise advertising, public sharing of a child’s profile or unrelated uses of lesson recordings.
To show prices in your currency, the server looks up the country of your IP address in a database on our own server (DB-IP), without asking any other service; the address and its country are kept together for up to 30 days.
7. Campaign links
If a family opens a public page from an advertisement or a link with campaign parameters, the site keeps those parameters in this browser’s storage for up to 30 days: the utm tags (source, medium, campaign, content and term), the advertising click identifier (fbclid or gclid), the page where the visit started and its time, for the first and the most recent such visit. This happens only on public pages, never in the child area or in a lesson. When a trial lesson is booked, they are sent and stored with the booking so that See Guru knows which campaign reached the family. The measurement tags described in section 11 can also read them from the page address, under the consent rules described there. Clearing the site data in the browser removes the browser copy, and deleting the account deletes the copy stored with the booking. When a trial lesson is booked and when a course is paid for, See Guru’s server may also report that event to Meta through the Meta Conversions API, so that Meta can measure which advertisements bring families: the type of event and its time, for a payment the price of the first month and its currency, the advertising click identifier (fbclid), and the parent’s phone number, the email address given for receipts and an account number, these three only as SHA‑256 hashes, which Meta uses to match the event to a Meta account; never a name or anything about a child. For families in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland (judged by the device’s time zone or language, or by the country code of the phone number), this happens only if the cookie banner was accepted before the trial lesson was booked; elsewhere it happens unless the cookie banner was refused or the browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track. The banner’s answer and whether the device appeared to be in those countries are sent with the booking and kept with the account; deleting the account deletes them.
8. Retention and access
Account, learning and hero information supports the active service; transaction and security records may need to be retained for legal obligations or disputes. Retention depends on the category of information and the purpose for which it is needed. Ask speakykid support for the applicable retention period or deletion of a specific category. Access is restricted by account and role; no online service can promise absolute security. Support chat messages are kept for 12 months for visitors who are not signed in, and for as long as the account exists for parents who are signed in.
9. Parents’ choices and requests
A parent or guardian can request access, correction, an export or deletion of their and their child’s information, and withdraw permission for optional processing or object where applicable. Write to support@speakykid.com. We may need to verify your authority over the account. Explain the child profile and requested action; do not send passwords or payment card details. Some essential data is needed to provide the requested activity. Statutory access, complaint and other rights depend on applicable law and are not limited by this notice.
10. Children and changes
A child cannot provide the parent’s agreement on their own. A parent must review the features and the relevant notices before enabling use, especially voice, camera and AI. Where law requires verifiable parental consent or separate permission, that requirement is additional to accepting these terms or granting browser access. Material changes to purposes or optional features require an updated notice and, when required, renewed permission. The date above identifies this version.
11. Visit statistics and measurement tags
To see which pages help families and where they get stuck, the public pages and the parent area count a few steps, for example that a page was opened, a button for the trial lesson was pressed or a step of the form was reached. Each count goes only to See Guru’s own server, with a random visit number kept in this browser’s storage for up to 30 days, the page language and address without parameters, the campaign of the visit (see above), the name of the website the visit came from, and whether the screen is narrow or wide. When a parent is signed in, counts from the parent area are linked to the account. No cookie or third-party service is used for this, the IP address and browser details are not stored with the counts, and nothing is counted in the child area or in a lesson. A browser that sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track is not counted. Counts are kept for up to 13 months; signing out starts a new visit number, and deleting the account deletes the counts linked to it.
On the public pages (the home page, the trial lesson form, sign-in, this policy, the terms, the accessibility statement and the page shown for an address that does not exist) and on the payment pages (choosing and paying for a course, and the confirmation after paying), the site also uses Google Tag Manager, a Google service that loads the analytics and advertising measurement tags we have set up in it, for example Google Analytics, Google Ads or the Meta pixel. These tags may set and read cookies and receive the page address with its campaign parameters, the steps listed above and, after a payment, the price of the course’s first month, its currency and an order number; never a name, a phone number, an email address or anything about a child. On a device that appears to be in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Google Tag Manager and these tags are not loaded at all until you accept in the cookie banner; for other visitors from those countries, Google’s tags are told that consent is refused until they accept. Elsewhere they work unless you refuse. A browser that sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track is treated as a refusal. Your answer is kept in this browser for 6 months and can be changed at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of the public pages. Google Tag Manager and these tags are never loaded in the child area, in a lesson or in the rest of the parent area.
12. Invitation links
If a family opens the site from another family’s invitation link, the site keeps the link’s short code in this browser’s storage for up to 30 days, only on public pages. When a trial lesson is booked or a course is paid for, the code is sent and stored with the account, to grant the invitation lessons described in the terms. To check that two families are not one and the same, See Guru compares their phone numbers, email addresses and, for card payments, the card identifiers that Stripe provides; nothing is shared with the other family, which sees only counts. Deleting the account deletes the stored code and the invitation record.
